 Dog Cat Umbrella

UPDATE:  OUR JANUARY 23rd Trail Party was RAINED OUT!

Please see revised dates for future work parties!  THANK YOU!

Happy New Year - Text

Come help us maintain the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail. We will hope for no rain in our second attempt to work on the trail near Armstrong Gulch.  Great views, lovely winter woods, good company, and an easy 4 to 6 mile hike out-and-back.

When January 23rd – Saturday   8:30 AM – 1:30 PM (includes lunch provided by SUTA)

Where:   Meet at Armstrong Trailhead off of Sterling Creek Road at 8:30AM. Turn-off for trailhead near the 9 mile marker on Sterling Creek Rd; turn right at the “T” and drive about ½ a mile to the Armstrong Trailhead.   For detailed driving directions click here.

What:  Brushing and tread work along the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail from the Armstrong Trailhead heading south (flat 4 – 6 mile hike round-trip – a ½ mile  climb up/down the Armstrong access trail to trail).  Install a beautiful new mountain profile sign created by local metal artist Joe Ruskin!  The sign identifies the mountains you see at a great vista about 1.5 miles south of the Armstrong Trialhead.

What to Bring: Wear comfortable hiking or work boots, dress in layers and bring a warm hat and gloves—much of this trail section is shaded in the winter–it can be quite cold.  If you have them, please bring loppers, a pruning saw or a tread tool such as a Pulaski, grubber, or sturdy shovel.  Bring water and whatever special snacks you like.  SUTA supplies additional trail tools, delicious home-baked snacks to fuel you on the trail, as well as lunch.

RSVP:  If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can plan the work party and food!  Thank you.

The dates for future SUTA trail work parties are:
