Over the past few weeks a crew of enthusiastic and energetic teens from the Job Council completed the work of re-opening the Wolf Gap Access Trail.  After years of being closed, this gorgeous trail Wolf Gap is now completely re-done. We owe a huge debt of thanks to the Job Council and to BLM for getting this great group out to finish the work we started in January of this year.  For those of you who have not hiked on this trail yet, I cannot recommend it enough.  The trail head sign should be up soon too.  But for now, you can drive a little over 2 miles beyond the Deming Trail head and come to a wide parking area – WOLF GAP.  The trail takes off very obviously now – from the left side of the parking lot.  Fabulous views, great trees and now a lovely trail with fresh tread.  For now this trail is only open for hikers and runners.  Next year we will open it to horses but the tread needs to be compacted for a season.  No bicycles on this access trail – it would be too dangerous for the other users.  For precise directions and a description of this hike, see the copy of the article we wrote about it for the Jacksonville Review earlier this year.

Again a big thanks to the Crew from the Job Council.

 Enjoy the trail.

Hope
